OHLN and Udayana University Representatives Discussion

(Bali, 26-27 September 2018) The development of university laboratory networks is the main thing in realizing the synchronization and integration of laboratories in Indonesia. To that end, One Health Laboratory Network (OHLN) conducted a series of visits to the Faculty of Medicine (FK) and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) of Udayana University (Udayana) on September 26 and 27, 2018. The visit was intended to establish communication, introduce OHLN to the ranks FK and FKH Udayana, as well as discussing the potential for collaboration between FK and FK Udayana with OHLN in the national laboratory network in the future.

In addition, this visit also intends to assess several selected laboratories in depth, especially related to the capacities, needs and gaps in selected laboratories. The selected laboratories to be assessed are microbiology laboratories from each faculty.
The visit on the first day (September 26, 2018) was intended to discuss with the leadership of FK Udayana to introduce OHLN and build potential cooperation. The discussion took place in the FK Udayana hall and was attended by representatives of the deans and departments at FK Udayana and their staff, as well as the heads and staff of the laboratories there. The result of the discussion was the acceptance of OHLN to collaborate with FK Udayana and to conduct an assessment in the microbiology laboratory. Assessments were carried out by assessors from OHLN using the FAO Laboratory Mapping Tool (LMT). After the assessment, the results of the assessment are submitted and discussed together with the head and staff of the microbiology laboratory.

On the second day (September 27, 2018), the OHLN team discussed with the leadership of the FKH Udayana to introduce OHLN and build potential cooperation. The discussion took place in the FKH Udayana hall and was attended by representatives of the deans and departments at FKH Udayana and their staff, as well as the heads and staff of the laboratories there. Just like in FK, the result of the discussion was the acceptance of OHLN to collaborate with FKH Udayana and to conduct an assessment in the microbiology laboratory. Assessments were carried out by assessors from OHLN using the FAO Laboratory Mapping Tool (LMT). The activity was closed with the presentation of the results of the assessment and recommendations for improvement from the OHLN assessors to the ranks of the Udayana Faculty of Microbiology.
